Each year we hold a charity raffle at the show in aid of a specially selected charity with the top prize being a restored VW Beetle. Since 2011 we have successfully raised £120,000 for charities!!! :)
Raffle tickets can be bought at the show. The winners are announced in front of Harewood House on the Sunday of the show, immediately after the Show & Shine winner's parade.
The 2018 / 2019 raffle prize VW Beetle was built by Herbie Hospital > visit their website
With our theme for the 2019 show being Halloween, we had to create a dark and moody, german-look bettle prize and this 1303, restored and modified by Herbie Hospital, fitted the bill perfectly.
This year's prize was a fully rebuilt show car called Peppermint Dreams. We displayed the Beetle in a hug toy box all weeknd to go with our 2018 show theme of Toys.
To continue our movie theme, Slambassador created a beautifully restored replice Herbie. This 1966 Beetle was one of our most sought after prixe to date.
This year we pushed the boat out with a beautiful example of VW craftmenship, in the shape of this 1967 Beetle in Java Green.
Thank you once again to Jonnie, Gina and team at Herbie Hospital in Leeds who for the 3rd time dedicated a huge amount of time and effort restoring our charity VW Beetle. They have been absolutely amazing and have enabled us to raise over £18,000 for Cash For Kids.
Cash for Kids lends a helping hand to disabled and disadvantaged children aged 0 to 18 years in the local area by means of their grant giving process. Grants awarded go towards buying specialist equipment for children to enhance their quality of life. They are given to children’s charities and organisations to help them undertake projects and new initiatives or to ensure that much needed services can continue to provide essential care and support.
Thanks must also go to Lisa Sullivan, Charlotte Pickering, Katy Winterschladen and all the amazing volunteers that generously gave up their own time to help out before, during and after the event!
I have said this before, but 2015 has now seen the single largest amount raised for charity by VW Festival in it's 11 year history. Roll on VW Festival 2016!!
Thank you to the amazing Herbie Hospital in Leeds who dedicated a lot of time and effort once again to allow us to raise all this money for such a deserving charity! The car was donated by one of their long standing customers who had asked that it be donated to a worthy cause. Being a dog lover themselves, it only seemed right to support a doggie related charity.
Thanks must also go to Sarah Gamble and all the amazing volunteers that generously gave up their weekend to raise money for the Dogs Trust.
2014 saw the single largest amount raised for charity by VW Festival in it's history.
Thank you to all of our sponsors who built the car in 2013. The elements they each provided really made for a unique beetle for our raffle.
Thank you to Herbie Hospital in Leeds who supplied the car, and coordinated the restoration of this fantastic car as well as bringing together the following companies who supplied parts or services:
Thank you to Ann Rowe from Parkinson's UK and Sharon Cheng from the Children's Heart Surgery Fund and all the volunteers that kindly gave their time to sell tickets over the weekend and help us raise over £6000 for these amazing charities.
This may have been one of the best or worst ideas we have ever had! I think initially we underestimated how much effort was going to be involved in finding a car, and then part restoring it in time to give it away as well as everything else to prepare for the event!
However, that aside, as a direct result of that decision and hard work, we were able to raise nearly £2,500 for two charities close to our heart!
We would like to give a massive thank you to our good friend Andy Davis who gave a tremendous amount of time to help us with the work on the car.
Also to Andy and Adam at A&A Motors in Hull for donating their valuable time and an MOT to the cause.
