We have received loads of feedback from people that attended
VW Festival 2006, below are a selection.....at the bottom of the
page we have listed some of the negative feedback we received, together
with how we plan to address them for VW Festival 2007
My first VW event, found a club to join, great start for me! I
liked the small friendly feel to the show.
R. Linford
Me and my girlfriend have never been to VW festival before we thought
it was excellent, definitely coming again. Thanx for a great day
out.
G. Buchanan
Had a good day out, nice location for coming down from the north.
G. Burton
Absolutely brilliant! Great atmosphere, can't wait for next year.
Carry on the good work!
J. McInnes
Great day, well set out and very good attendance. Well done everyone
A. Davis
Great! Very well organised! Perfect location! A really good mix
of water cooled and air! Also the traders were a lot better this
year!
M. Muirhead
The show was amazing I did not expect that at all. It was pretty
close to waterfest in America, the best part about the show was
everyone was there to enjoy dubs and not fight over who is better
than one another. Also I enjoyed the different perspectives on dubs
there was not much rice and a lot of it was old school European
style and that’s what I like, there were lots of different
parts and nic nacs that I don’t get to enjoy in America......thanks
to England for a bad ass show!!!
Tony
It was my first DUB show and I wasn’t disappointed, great
cars, great people, was glad to be there and most of all be part
of it. More of the same for next year!!!!
J. Mouatt
Excellent friendly atmosphere and loads of great cars and some
especially stunning ones!!
D. Ainger
Absolutely wicked!! Well worth the 250+ mile drive and there was
something for everyone; stands, entertainment, food, the lot. I
can’t wait till next year!!
P. Gould
Excellent! I really enjoyed it. The best car show I have been to.
D. Locke
Great show guys, well done. A fantastic turn out. I was on the
Harrogate and District club stand which won best air cooled club
stand!!
S. Smith
Great day more club cars than I have ever seen in one place more
than I could take in in one day
J. Benn
Had a great day, good turn out, the rain stayed off and everyone
seemed to have a good time!!
C. Pollock
Excellent venue with good facilities, organised well and a thoroughly
enjoyable day
T. Mclachlan
Best show of the year so far loved every part of it
L. O'Brien
Show was a huge plus well organised and set up. Plenty to see and
do through out the day. Look forward to seeing the photos.
Garry
What can I say, spot on again the location is amazing and a brilliant
atmosphere I also like how the cars are in lines so the club stands
are part of the show more than others where they are usually out
of the way of the main show area.
R. Brocklehurst
Top day out, nice venue, couldn’t fault anything really!
Except maybe the extortionate food/drink prices, but I imagine there’s
not much you could have done about that!
D. Dowling
Fantastic show, great location, and at last some good weather,
same again next year. 10/10.
R. Crosher
Well done Guys and Gals on producing a top quality show, I know
exactly how much hard work goes on behind the scenes, and it showed,
with a flawless show the planning really pays off in the end!! Give
yourselves a big pat on the back, and relish the fact that VW Festival
is one of the best shows of the year, and only its second birthday
too!! Things can only get better.
Lee
Absolutely fantastic great show, and finally one up north!!!
A. Machen
Very very good show loved every bit well done
J. Marshall
This was my first VW show since GTI international in 92, what a
great atmosphere, very good turnout, very well organised, efficient
yet laid back. Everyone I spoke to enjoyed it, some great cars,
too! We will definitely be coming next year. THANKS!!
S. Chesterman
Excellent Day!! Huge number of show cars, great layout, very well
organised.
J. Robertson
Really really good show, enjoyed myself all day long, I think you
all did a brill job of sorting one off the best show's I’ve
ever attended, Can't wait for next year's event, and I love the
venue and the amount off different VW's there, it's got something
for the whole family to enjoy, roll on festival 07
W. Moore
I speak for all the members of the Audi Owners Club who attended
VW Festival 2006, in saying that this show was again one of, if
not "the" top shows in the yearly calendar. Great organisation
from Shane, Paul and the team. An absolute awesome show of VAG group
cars, from campers, beetles, Golf's etc, to the newer VW, Audi and
Seat vehicles from the dealership stands. Thanks must go to the
judges for awarding the AOC the "best watercooled club stand
of the show" award, we are honoured.
J. Armitage
Loved it! Beautiful venue which being 10 mins down the road from
me made the show even better. I went with an open mind; having heard
the previous show had been predominantly watercooled and was pleasantly
surprised. Very well organised and very much appreciated. Will definitely
be going next year.
J. Winter
This my first show which I thoroughly enjoyed. It gave me a great
insight into campers, which I'm on the look out for. I've wanted
one for years and now I've reached 40, it is time!!! Keep it going.
L. Hammonds
Great day, loved the setting and everything about it was quality!
A real family day out. Keep it up!
J. Brassington
Brilliant show! Glad I pre-booked tickets much quicker!
C. Johnston
I bought the tickets for my husband's birthday, as he is a huge
fan of the VW range and tagged along with him. I didn't expect the
show to be anything special but I thoroughly enjoyed it. We had
pre booked our tickets and the prompt entrance to the show was appreciated.
Overall the event was well planned and we would definitely consider
returning to future events.
J. Ritson
The show venue is fantastic, the attendance is fantastic. Would
like to see more 'stalls', but saying that there was more than last
year. Presumably as the show grows there will be more. Excellent
guys.
Jelli
The show was truly excellent, the quality of cars was superb, show
very well laid out. Pre-booking priority and separate parking for
VAG cars a master stoke. The VAG inspired arts and craft were really
good. Top job, looking forward to next year already!
A. Alexander
Excellent!! Well organized event; especially regarding directions
to stand in the morning etc. I will be coming every year it’s
on now!! Nothing constructive to say except keep doing whatever
you're doing!
A. Rae
The show was the 1st I have been to and me my dad and my best mate
loved it. There was a good chilled atmosphere. We will definitely
be coming back next year. GOOD SHOW!!
J. Mannion
The show was fantastic!!!! My family and I ALL loved it. I think
all bases were covered by yourselves (that deserves a pat on the
back!!! Well done you!) Suggestion for next year: make the next
365 days go a little faster!!
N. Griffith
Very enjoyable day, great location, quick entry with prebooked
tickets
N. Connolly
For the second year running we really enjoyed our day at Harewood
for VW Festival 2006. I feel the day was very well organised, little
things like a quicker queue for pre booked tickets really help the
experience and designated VAG car parking is always a bonus. Thanks
for a great time, the friendly atmosphere of last year made us come
back again this year and it was nice to see it was there again.
R. Charlesworth
First time at show on HDVW club stand, enjoyed it, well organised.
D. Crossland
Well organised & a great atmosphere meant that my other half
& I have a fantastic day! The various club stands worked very
well. Also a great opportunity to meet like minded people.
R. Fitzgerald
This is a Fantastic venue for the show, especially with Harewood
house in the background making for some excellent photo shots. On
top of this there was a good variety of VW/AUDI'S on display, Thank
you...
E. Robinson
Great show, my wife and I really enjoyed the bird garden and house
with its wonderful interior as well as the cars and campers, many
thanks!
R. Stevens
One word guys, brill again, ok its two, well done to all.
Suggestions for next year though more Audi stuff to be there, and
see if there is a chance to get some Lambos on display!
J Chezzy
I thought it was a cracking show, and it was clear that A LOT of
organisation had gone into it. I was really impressed when we arrived
and the steward stopped us pulling into the main Harewood car park
so we could join the long line of buses - little things like that
make a show. Sure there were lots of waterpumpers, I probably did
no more than glance at a couple of them, but it sure didn't spoilt
the show as there was plenty other stuff to look at. The graffiti
display was a nice touch, pints of Timothy Taylor on tap - a very
very nice touch, having separate VW and non VW car parks - a nice
touch, stands for local clubs was another nice touch, and probably
something to push a bit more next year to bring in the aircooled,
and when you consider that the show was basically free, as it was
the normal price to get into Harewood. I for one will be back next
year and hope it goes from strength to strength.
T. Frenneaux
Bless u my child, this was an awesome day, so good my mate is now
hooked on dubs and is about to buy a MKI Golf GTi (my other car,
not bad to say he was an avid Capri fan!!!! loved every minute.
R. Harrison
I was told this show would be good so we arranged to have a stand;
I travelled for 10 hours and clocked 500 miles. I ended up having
one of the best weekends ever. Thank you from all @ Dub-marines.co.uk.
We will be back next year!
Riccardo
It was our first show with our new bus. We had a great day lots
to see, great to see air and water mixing. Looking forward to the
long trip up north next year. Nice to win a prize as well!!
R. & K. Luckett
Very good, although it’s local it’s the first time
I have been, its all ready on the calendar for next year, well organised
and well run a pleasure to attend.
N. Varley
Top! I went last year with some mates and we enjoyed it. I saw
what the show/grounds had to offer and decided to bring my family
this year. It was a great family day out. My two kids (4yrs and
18 months old) had a great time and my eldest keeps asking if we
can go back again soon. Even the Wife enjoyed looking round the
bird garden etc. From a Dubber point of view it was a good show
but not many traders seemed to be there. I saw a couple of empty
plot so it looks as though some had let you down. One of the highlights
of any show for me is buying parts and rummaging through crates
of junk for that illusive bit but there wasn't a lot there. There
was a good selection of cars there though for me to drool over and
this made up for it. Overall I would recommend it for a good family
day out. Put it another way we will all be there again next year!
So thanks for a good show, it must've been hard work for you guys.
C. Bowes
Missed it last year and heard it raved about. It was raining when
we left Manchester but the sun broke as soon as we got there, so
it was a top day in the end. Especially when my mate Ben won a runner
up trophy in the show and shine!!
S. McHale
Absolutely Great. Nice and Local to Middlesbrough, good Range
of Cars met some good new people. Bring on 2007!! Thank You.
J. Adams
This was our first visit to a VW festival despite my being a VW
driver for many years. Just to say that the event and the atmosphere
was fantastic and my fiancée and I enjoyed every minute.
We hope the festival continues to grow, especially as there are
few events in the north of England, (we travelled from Newcastle
upon Tyne). Very best of luck in the future, we will definitely
return.
P. Oliver / S. Lee
Really enjoyed our very first VW show - great turnout, friendly
atmosphere, well organised, good food and loo facilities etc. Definitely
liked our trading position and would love to attend again next year.
Thanks for having us!
Bev & Marc Doyle - www.my-shops.net
Great day out, well worth the money and the travelling time from
Newcastle. Can't wait for next year!
G. Barker
Loved having access to Harewood House, very easy to get in and
park, thought the prizes where a great idea for pre booked tickets,
think it could be a brilliant 2 day event. Loved the graffiti area.
Wanted to book ours in but was full so maybe more of that please.
E. James
My first VW show, fantastic event can't wait till next year!!!
L. Rowley
This show was excellent, very well set out and will go next year.
Thanx.
K Beckwith
Great show. Great turn out of cars.
A. Smith
Thought It was excellent, good day out, enjoyed it a lot plenty
of awesome dubs!!
Lee
1st Class. Great Venue for it & a great mix of air / water
cooled.
C. Morris
Quick easy entry as pre booked tickets. Lots of nice cars to see.
Good show!
D. Clapham

As I said we also received some criticism, some we are
able to fix, others are beyond our control, but any suggestions
will be welcomed!
There needs to be more trade stands - Since this
was only our second show we did have trouble convincing a lot of
Traders to attend as we had no real track record, we did however
have double the number of traders than 2005, so we believe this
is heading in the right direction. Once everyone sees the aerial
shots and attendance figures I think this will significantly improve.
I would like to say,
There needs to be more air cooled auto jumblers
- if there had been more air cooled related traders and auto jumblers,
they would have made a killing! the number of people emailing to
say that they had taken a load of cash to spend! We are really going
to have a push to get them there next year!
Cheaper food - Unfortunately this has been out
of our control, part of our deal with Harewood House is that they
use the catering companies they already have contracts with. We
will be discussing the prices with them prior to next years show
though! One of our suggestions though would be to bring a picnic!
There needs to be more for the kids - Obviously
Harewood House has more than most, since it has a fully permanent
adventure playground, bird garden, and penguins amongst other things,
but we understand what people are saying regarding rides on the
actual show ground; we were extremely dissappointed by the funfair
and stuff for the kids, we were let down at the last minute by the
fun fair company who was meant to be bringing a massive playground
for the kids but he said the ground was too soggy. We will make
a bigger effort to ensure it's better for the kids next year.
Not enough Show 'n' Shine judges - We are very
aware that there was a shortage of judges, this was due to a last
minute problem, and we will make sure that there are more for next
year! We are also restructuring the timings a little so people know
when to be by their cars.
Make it a weekend show - This is under consideration.
We have provisionally booked the 18th and 19th August 2007. Watch
this space.
Entrance fee seemed expensive - Unfortunately
the "on the gate" price is nothing to do with us as the
organisers, and is kept by Harewood House.....as it stands VW Festival
is actually FREE to enter as the only cost is the
usual entrance fee charged by Harewood House to access their grounds.
Obviously we were selling tickets on our website at £8 per
adult (£2.90 saving), £6 per child (£1.50 saving)
and £27 per family (£10 saving) ?? We think at £8
per adult it is a good value day out considering you get all of
Harewood's facilities and not just an empty field.
Show and Shine categories - We thought the top
10 system was the best way to do it (As with the Volksworld Show)
because what happens if there is only one camper entering that category,
and 8 quality beetles? We think that it shouldn't matter what car
people have, it's the amount of time effort and the quality of the
finish that is important. This is under review for 2007.
Exit signs and arrangements - We agree about the
exit arrangements, unfortunately Harewood didn’t tell us about
ANOTHER exit until cars in the overflow car park had been queuing
for some time....anyway, this is in hand for next year, and there
will be more exits!
Lack of Bentleys, Bugattis and Lambos - One of
our biggest efforts next year will be to bring those 3 manufacturers
to the show. We really want to push those elements of the VAG group.
They have all expressed an interest in coming next year and we wont
let those leads go cold.
The nominated campsite was too noisy - For next
year we are sorting a couple of sites.....a Heaven and a Hell...one
for the pleasant campers and one for the more boisterous :) keep
an eye on the website for details!
Better weather for next year!! - We will try our
best :)
