VW Festival

After the 2005 show, lots of people emailed us with their comments about our show. We thought it was only fair to put these up on the website for everyone to see.

Just a biiiiiig thankyou to all who were involved in any aspect of the show on Sunday, especially the organisers.

I have been on the VW scene for about 10 years, both Air Cool with my '74 bay window camper & my '71 custom bug, in my earlier years, and now Water Cool with my wifes mk3 golf Gti. This was the best show that I have EVER been too. My wife really enjoyed it & we took our 2yr old daughter, Claudia, who also had a fantastic day even on the adventure playground.
Claudia was especially taken with the red Speedster (Dads influence!) what a motor. Again, big thankyou to all involved & also all who made the journey for any reason, be it show & shine or just visiting. Can't wait for next year!!

Just wanted to say congrats on the show yesterday. Gemma and I look like lobsters today but we both had a great time - weather was fab and the show was great, very relaxed, and lots of stuff to see and do. Huge turnout too and a good venue. Really liked how everything was so clearly laid out with all the signs etc, organisation was excellent. Thumbs up from me :-)

Not even considering the fact it was the first one, I think probably the best show I've been to, bonus that it was so close to get to aswell. Good job that man.

Dan Adams from Pocklington

Enjoyed the event, some great cars & all seemed very well thought-out/planned. I liked the map idea!

Hope you had a relaxed evening and got home okay. Must be a good feeling to get out the other side of organising and just put your feet up!

Anyway, just wanted to drop you a line and say that we really enjoyed the show yesterday and think you all did a very professional job. Top venue, a load of great cars, brilliant weather and well-oiled running of events.
Easily the best show/event I've been to in the UK since Edition 38 last Sept. Plus, we did pretty well trade-wise on the stand, which always helps.

For me you topped E38 at your first attempt. Brilliant! Liked the aircooled stuff, porsche diplay was good, nice to see something different, on the whole the show was very good and has massive potential to expand on the current format but i'm sure you've got loads of idea's up your sleeve to make it extra special next year.

I was there all day and missed loads, most shows you can do in an 1hr or 2

VW Festival was the highlight of my 2005 show season, great weather great location great atmosphere and excellant cars, this event is up there with the top shows in this country in only its first year.

Dean Clark from Hull (Hull + East Riding Club GTI)

VW Festival for me was my first VW only car show's, having visiting numerous mixed car shows in the past, i was taken aback by the amount of effort that had obviously been put in to arrange what was for me, the highlight of 2005 and to think this was the opening year for the show i can only expect bigger and better things for years to come.

Beautiful surroundings, stunning cars and a great atmosphere, highlight of my "show season" Smile and i got sunburnt!!

Laura Shields from Scarborough (DemonVW)

Ive only been in the VW scene for only 3 years now but Ive attended most of the northern based shows in that time. None have compared to VW Festival, and last year was the first ever show!!! Very well organised and there was loads VW and non VW related (ie the Penguins!) things to see. Unfortunately due to a £14.5k wedding getting in the way this year I cant attend but I will be back!

John Thomson from Manchester

Was a great day had by all, my first VW show and definately one to remember...which is why I'm looking forward to this year's show so much! Great weather, great cars, great entertainment and great company ...what more does a show need...we'll see!

Liam Bettinson from Teesside (Section 5)

My favourite show of the year,it had hundreds of nice cars(air cooled and watercooled),Weather was beautiful,Met alot of friendly people, and it couldn't have been in a better location as the atmosphere was stunning. Looking forward to the next.

Dale Spencer from East Yorksire

Would just like to say brilliant show, one of the best I've been to. It was very well organised. Had temporarily left the VW scene when I sold my golf but came down with the new owner. First thing when I got home (ok second after applying loads of aftersun!) was straight on autotrader looking for my next dub. See you then!

Rich

Just like to say that we thought the show was brilliant!

We loved the mix of cars at the place. From Aircooled relics to mental speakers-on-wheels. True, there wasnt many traders there, but that just means I saved some money & could spend longer looking at the cars :) Couldnt find any fault with the way things went at all. We found the place fine, parked up effortlessly and had a smashing time wandering about the place. The grounds that the show was set in was magnificent and it was good to "get away" for a while and enjoy the gardens, lake, aviary etc. Couldnt fault the catering either, & the toilets seemed to cope!

How did those two cars end up after they got painted? Had a nice rest on the grass watching the lads spray them.

Keep it up lads, & we'll be back next year :D

They (pvw team) all had a great time. thanks for helping out with our shoot. what can i say, i've heard so many good comments about the show. you must be ecstatic, to be honest. i'm really please it was a success and only sorry i couldn't attend. i'm assured we have some good photos though so we'll get a nice feature out of it.

Anyway, congratulations again on a wicked event.

The newest show in the calendar was VW Festival in Yorkshire. I didn’t know what to expect from this show, but I was really happy to have attended. The show was very much club orientated, with only a small number of trade stands. The weather was great, the location beautiful and it was really well organised (without the power-crazed marshals we’ve come to expect from UK events). I expect there to be more trade stands next year, but I believe this will still be a show for the clubs, both air and water cooled.

A VW show up North at last! A great mix of both watercooled and aircooled dubs, great organisation and beautiful surroundings made for a fantastic sunday and to top it all off: the weather was incredible.
